Swavie wraps up the season with his EP 'Summer’s Over’

The New Jersey artist puts the Hot Girl Summer on chill with his latest project

What's a better way to put a cap on the  season other than ending it with some feel good vibes. Drawing inspiration from the greats like Drake, Chris Brown, Frank Ocean & his sister, Swavie’s 3 single EP ‘Summer’s Over’ is what you call a: good time. “The initial goal was just to make some good vibes'' he says, “ Something you bump in the car with some friends, with all the windows down that makes you want to move.”

For Swavie, music was just a quarantine hobby. “I could always sing, but I never actually thought of recording my voice and making real music.”  But thanks to his friends who encouraged him to hop on the wave, he decided to give music a real shot. In only 3 months, Swavie has learned how to mix and master which makes ‘Summer’s Over’ an even doper project to listen to. “Every song you hear is recorded in my room and mixed and mastered myself.” When asking where the inspiration behind the first track ‘2005’ came from, he says that it stemmed from Pharrell being one of his faves. “ Not just as an artist, but as a person more than anything. He’s a great musician and an absolute style icon.” Already dropping a remix to the infamous ‘Beautiful’ which features Pharrell, making a song like 2005 was already a brewing thought for the 20 year old. “I just wanted to bring an old school feel back to our generation of music because not a lot of artists are doing that.” New Jersey rappersSwavie likes to describe his sound as non-traditional RNB. Making the project a compilation of choppy, fast cadences, minor riffs and runs, and other rap elements. “ I wasn’t that comfortable with my singing on my first project, but I’m slowly moving away from rapping and solely focusing on the singing aspect” he says “Many have said they prefer my singing, which is something that’s definitely had to grow on me.” In the end, his main goal is to provide good vibes for his listeners whether it be upbeat dancehall or mellow in your feelings tunes. “I want to make sure my listeners can relate to my music on a personal level because, to be honest, who hasn’t gone through a hard relationship.” As far as 2020 projects, Swavie doesn’t think he’ll release anymore but continue to drop singles so that the value of his music can be appreciated. So, do us a favor and go check out his latest project ‘Summer’s Over’ streaming everywhere. You won’t regret it!
