Landon White delivers on his project "Let's Talk About It"
White takes us from N.C. to B.K. in this debut EP
True individuality is a refreshing, albeit increasingly rare trait in up and coming musicians. While there is no lack in talent, there is a shortage of artists who are brave enough to tell their stories in ways that are unique to them. For this reason, when we listen to a project like "Lets Talk About It", it gets us extra hyped. The debut EP, which starts with casual conversation, soon introduces us to our protagonist Landon White. What follows is a deeply personal journey that drifts seamlessly from track to track. By the times it ends, it's abundantly clear that Landon White is not trying to be like any other rapper in the game right now. And for that, we here at Gritty Vibes are grateful.
1. You bounced around to a few different regions while you were coming up. Can you talk about how this unique upbringing influenced you and your music?
Growing up in Raleigh, N.C. I was exposed to a lot of different music. My father played a lot of jazz, while my mother and brother played a lot of gospel, hip-hop, and reggae. That had a major impact on my childhood, because it made me explode a lot of different sounds and styles of art.
2. Your debut EP "Let's Talk About It" is a banger. It had a really free flowing, organic structure to it. What was your creative process like making it?
My creative process of making “Let’s Talk About It” was to really get in tune my emotions, and make music off of feelings and vibes. I got the opportunity to work with really talented musicians and artist from DMV, NC and NYC to bring this EP to life. It was really important for me to put them into a space where they felt most comfortable, so we could get as creative as possible.

"I will always be content with people appreciating my art no matter how big or small my audience is. "
3. Our favorite track was definitely the one about your friend who unfortunately has passed. The interviews and splices of what I assume was his voice were especially touching. Can you talk about the making of this track?
“Pink Forever” is a track dedicated to one of my neighborhood friends Kouren Thomas who lost his life through a hate crime. The purpose of making this track was to dedicate him and show the aftermath of brutality. The sad and confusing feelings that we were left with, knowing that he lost his life simply because of his skin tone. Kouren was a really respectful & funny person, and I wanted to shed light on his favorite color pink and our friendship.

4. Everything about your debut EP had an artistic, abstract vibe. Do you hope to reach a mass audience with your music or are you content with finding your niche crowd and thriving in it?
As I grow as an artist, I would hope my audience grows as well! I will always be content with people appreciating my art no matter how big or small my audience is.

5. We know you have a live performance on the horizon. What do you envision for yourself as the next steps in your career? With you having a background in photography/videography, we'd love to see a visual come out of this project!
