Skye Morales is rising R&B STAR
The budding talent turns heads with her latest EP
The definition of freedom can vary depending on who you ask. For Skye Morales, the idea of finding an inner peace is explored in her show stopping EP entitled "Free". Morales floats across the production from the opening track, in which she enforces the tone with lines like "Loving who I am, every part of me." This graceful fortitude is a theme throughout the project, but tracks like "Tempo" showcase her versatility as she skillfully describes a fleeting love. Our personal favorite though is the empowering "New One" in which Morales provides a theme song for every woman who bounced back and found something better after a failed relationship.
We got to shoot a few questions towards Morales about her latest release and she was nice enough to give us some insight on her creative process. The Bronx NY native confirmed our suspicions about her musical influences and even hinted at some new music on the way. For now though we're more than fulfilled by her latest EP, "Free"
Check it out below!
1. What was your mind state coming into this EP? What were some of the themes you wished to express?
“Allow yourself to be vulnerable, it’s okay, it’s time”
I really wanted to express the fact that I know everybody is not always happy all the time and we go through things and we feel alone at times like nobody feels us but I do.

2. Some of your songs have a real autobiographical feel to them. "Tempo" for example felt like it was referencing a recently ended relationship. How much of your music is inspired by some real things you've been through?
Tempo was created by A-rod and myself. It really was more so about girl power and getting your groove back like “nope you can’t mess with me I’m cool I just found my tempo”. A lot of my music is either based on things that I’ve been through over the course of my life or things that I know other people go through and can easily relate to.
3. Who are some of your influences musically? Are there any artists you've incorporated into your sound?
For the most part I listen to a lot of old music just because I rather FEEL what I’m listening to and I can’t really feel some of the music that’s coming out right now. I really like listening to artists like Mac demarco, George benson, Sonder, Anita Baker, Phil Collins, Aaliyah….

4. Let's talk about the title of your EP. What exactly does being free mean to you? How would you define it?
Free means it’s okay to unapologetically be yourself. Free means that it’s okay to feel sad sometimes. Free means it’s okay to be happy. Free means that if you’ve ever felt alone in this world then I see you too and I’m here for you if you thought that nobody was.

5. We know you're fresh off of some fire music but we're already wondering, what's next? Any visuals dropping from the project? What should we look out for going forward
YES!!!!! So I’m definitely gonna be dropping some visuals soon and I’m so excited for you guys to see what I’ve been working on. Keep your eyes open for new music new merch andddddd new music! Xoxoxo
