Streetwear event of the year! Vintage Flea Market NYC May 19th
You don't wanna miss this!!
On May 19th, The Dead Stock Depot will bring together some of the flyest in vintage streetwear, curated by the 10+ vendors involved. The Vintage Streetwear Flea market will go down at 568 Broadway inside Artist and Flea Soho, and feature a number of surprises in addition to the gear. Started by two friends in the 6, The Dead Stock Depot has grown into a movement up north with lines wrapping around blocks and rare pieces being discovered left and right. We talked to the founders of the event to hear more about its origins, and more details on Saturday's event.
1. How did The Deadstock Depot get its start? How has it grown since its infancy?
The Deadstock Depot came to fruition when founding members Marc & Tyler spotted a lack of street-level retail opportunities within our home city of Toronto. We noticed a large ammount of collectors who sell online did not have the chance to sell face-to-face due to high rental costs, so we decided to fill the void by creating a community-based retail platform that allows up-and-coming vendors to sell their merchandise without paying massive rental fees or signing any intimidating long-term contracts. To date, we have almost tripled the number of vendors in attendance at our events, and have garnered turnouts upwards of 400 people in line waiting for our doors to open.

2. What's the experience like shopping at one of your events? What makes it so special?
Shoppers at our event can expect to find amazing deals on vintage items for anywhere between 5-10 dollars, although they will also have the chance to shop from more rare/expensive collections curated by our vendors. The Deadstock Depot is truly a one of a kind retail experience as we are the only event in the world bringing together curators and collectors from all across North America who have one-of-a-kind collections that will not be found elsewhere. It is also important to note that when you shop at our event you are not only helping empower the next generation of small business owners, but also helping reduce textile and landfill wastes by up-cycling garments from the past. It's a win-win for the entire world.

3. With all the fire pieces you and your collaborators have curated, what would you say is one piece that's stood out to you?
To me personally, one of our vendors had the same Tommy Hilfiger rugby shirt that Snoop Dogg wore on SNL back in 1994. That was the piece that got me into collecting vintage as a kid. Crazy to see it in real life. That's the thing about our event, even if you don't plan on spending money, it is worth coming to check out just for its museum-like vibes.

4. What else can we expect at the event aside from the gear?
We will be having live performances from musical artists Taveeta & Frank Castle as well as a live DJ. A couple of our vendors will also be hosting raffles out of their respective booths.

5. Any other updates or shoutouts you wanna give concerning the event and your future endeavors?
Look out for us touching down in a city near you soon and we hope to have you out to one of our future events.
