Meet Tina Mazyck, the singer with a golden voice

The new talent out of NYC

Whereas singing in the studio comes with countless voice altering methods that often make a mediocre singer sound flawless, a live performance is often the true measure of a musician's abilities. Tina Mazyck recently experienced her first concert and if it was a test, she passed with it flying colors. The New Yorker has proved that when on stage, she needs nothing but a microphone to move a crowd, and her acapella vid of her singing Redbone caught our eye on the gram. Mazyck told us she has been singing for as long as she can remember and career wise, she's ready to take off. In the future when she's headlining a big concert and amongst the elite black R&B singers out there, we'll be able to say we were down from the get go.

1. Where are you from? What are some of your earliest singing memories?

I'm from the Bronx. Some of my earliest singing memories are from when I was 5 years old. I used to sing make up songs and sing them into a pink recorder my father bought me. The first song I ever made was about being a cowboy. I was also in a girl group with my two sisters and two friends from the neighborhood. We used to sing everywhere.

2. What was your experience like in December having your first concert?

Having my first concert was really exciting to say the least. First I was really grateful a booker was reaching out to me. People came out to see me sing and be myself on stage. That made me feel so happy. The show went so well and I put on my best performance ever. I always wanted to deliver a performance like I was doing it by myself in front of a mirror and it came out that way. The best feeling is when the crowd gets you and I felt that performing.

3. We love your cover videos! Any original music you're working on that you wish to mention?

Thank You! I put a lot of time and effort into my cover my. I sing, produce, edit and then shoot the video. I have an EP titled "Mazyck" That has 6 songs on it. It is available everywhere. As of now I am working on the biggest music project ever. I will be dropping a few singles this spring. They are going to be so good. My style of music is more refined and better sounding. I am going to be working with top producers and shooting videos for all songs. These singles will be dropped in order following a story of my life. Stay tuned for that project.

4. What's the biggest obstacle you've had to overcome thus far?

One of the biggest obstacles I had to overcome is truly believing I could be successful in music. I realized that I wanted to get further in my career and that meant I had to be able to feel worthy and talented enough. This was really hard to feel, and it didn't make sense until recently. The response I get from friends, followers, siblings and other online platforms gives me motivation and validation when I put out videos. I receive so much love from everyone and they keep on requesting more. I believe more in myself than ever at this stage.

5. What are your dreams and goals moving forward?

My goals are to start getting paid bookings. I want to make a hit song in the near future. I also want some of my songs to get on the charts. I would like a bigger fan base by this summer. I just want to get to the point where my ability to make music is freeflowing and sounds the best it can.
