Otev bids farewell to the street life with his track 'Melting Away'
The Staten Island musician gets personal with this track
The ability to be honest, vulnerable and self reflective in one's art is what often separates good musicians from great ones. In Otev's track "Melting Away", he manages to be all three, and then some. In perhaps his most personal song yet, the Staten Island musician examines himself from an outside perspective, taking accountability for his actions and leaving listeners with a battle weary warning: The streets don't love nobody. "Melting Away is definitely a personal record for me," He says. "We are living in real difficult times and I just wanted to get some old feelings off my chest."

The 'Melting Away' video feels like we're getting front row seats to observe Otev undergo a difficult, yet therapeutic process. His personal journey is interspersed with footage of police brutality and countless acts of violence against black people. As a minimalistic piano melody plays out, Otev's melodic tone and the dark images of the Ezru Gonzalez produced visual create a perfect contrast, reflecting the times we're currently in with precision.
"We are living in real difficult times and I just wanted to get some old feelings off my chest."
Otev has already capitalized on the momentum with a Jam Session for another track, 'Value'. "I’ve been in the studio just working and stacking records," He says. "I wanna give the people the best experience possible when it’s time to drop my EP." With a proven ability to combine singing prowess and powerful subject matter, Otev has established himself as a quality talent. We're excited to hear more from him going forward.
