Spree Wilson delivers another hit with "The Jealous Song"

New music to listen to

Distributing time equally between a craft and loved ones is a process that even the finest of artists have yet to perfect. This leaves room for a feeling that most musicians know all too well: Jealousy. Spree Wilson encapsulated this vibe perfectly in his latest track "The Jealous Song." This multi faceted musician is coming off a 2018 that included him cracking a million streams for his song "Counterfeit", while his new music have helped bolster his fanbase even more.In "The Jealous song", we see his artistry unfold in a single tracking shot, as an unfazed Spree Wilson sings and plays away at his guitar, despite a scorned woman hassling him throughout. We dug the song & the accompanying visual so we had to hit him up. Spree was cool enough to answer some questions from us about his career, his influences and more. 1. You dropped two tracks in 2018 and still managed to receive almost 700,000 Spotify streams. Were you surprised any by the huge amount of support from your fans?

A: Yes and No...I wasn't surprised that fans enjoyed the music, but I was surprised by the amount of fans who discovered the songs organically. None of the songs that I released last year were on any playlist, so basically all of those streams came from word of mouth, which still blows my mind. I'm so grateful for the fans who continue to share and stream my songs..it lets me know that I'm on the right path.https://youtu.be/XZsGVuNd-Gw

2. Your latest offering, "The Jealous Song" is dope man. We dig the process that you undergo when writing your tracks, and the emphasis you place on the lyrics. How hands on are you with the production of your songs?

A: Well, I not only write my songs but I also produce my records as well, along with my production partner Corron Cole. I'll usually have an idea that i'll lay down, and then we both start filling in the gaps until we get it to place where we both are feeling good about it. We kinda keep tinkering with it up until the very end, until its released.

3. A lot of your aesthetic, such as the cover art etc is quite vintage. Who are some of the influences that have shaped your sound?

A: I guess a lot of my sound is a mix of modern and vintage...I would say The Beatles influenced my songwriting the most. Their melodies, lyrics, chord selections really spoke to me when I was a kid. Outkast, specifically Andre 3000 is a huge influence on my sound. Beck, The Gorillaz, Pharrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers are a few others that have had a major impact on me sonically.

4. We know you're fresh off a video release but we gotta ask, what's next for you? What should we expect this 2019?

A: This year, I'll be releasing my project "Thank You For Coming, Enjoy", so I'm super excited about that. Expect to see a few more dope visuals, more collaborations and hopefully a tour this year! For more New music to listen to, click here
