Blaze Johnson Jr has a voice of gold

The multi-talented artist is a must hear

Perhaps equally as important as a singer's talent in the studio or on stage, is their mentality that they carry with them in their everyday lives. There are those that stop short of their destiny and give up, letting criticism and lack of progress get in their way. Then there are those like Blaze Johnson Jr. The talented musician feels the doubt creep in like every other creative. The only difference with him though? He keeps going. As a result, the polished artist surfaced on our radar as his ability vocally and on the guitar and piano made him a must to cover on our site. Johnson spoke to us about these challenges, along with his upbringing and future plans in his music. Enjoy!

1. Where are you from and how did your upbringing shape your music?

I am from Nassau Bahamas but now I reside in Columbus Ohio. When I was five years old I discovered that I could sing but also I discovered that I was able to play the piano I watched my father play who was at the time a youth praise worship leader and he sat the piano one night and since that night I would sneak into his room and practice by myself. I think God for every gift that he’s given me.

2. Where do you draw inspiration from?

I draw my inspiration first from my relationship with God. He kind of speaks to me in a cool way like I’ll get stories in my head about situations or about people and then I write out of that place. Also My wife lol. All that plays into how i grew up.

3. Any current or upcoming projects you’d like to speak on?

Yes I currently have a project out called “KNOW You” it’s on every digital platform. And I will be dropping my new single this Valentine’s Day called “Made for me”

4. What’s been your biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome as an up and coming artist?

One of the biggest things I’ve had to overcome is telling myself that I can still do this. Sometimes it gets discouraging, you know when you feel like you’re not reaching your goals fast enough or everyone’s opinion of you and what are you saying in your style. Also, being an independent artist is very hard because you have to put in a lot of work, your promotion making your own music you know. Best advice I can give somebody is to stay close to people that are going the same direction and I’ve heard a wise person say if you don’t quit you will win.

5. What are your plans for the future?

My plans for the future is to release tons and tons of new content in 2018, shooting music videos and collaborating with some really good friends of mine. I want to get my music out to the world and give them something that’s new, a new sound a new voice. I want to build something that inspires others to pursue their dreams and passion.
