Bryan Thompson is a name to remember
Sandwiched in between videos of him soulfully blasting out tunes on the sax, Bryan Thompson's IG is populated with inspiring messages, such as the "You are never given a dream without being given the power to make it come true" statement that went up shortly before this article was published. Perhaps the best proof of this post is Thompson himself, who's dreams and talent aligned before most kids can figure out their favorite cartoon. The longtime musical prodigy is a standout both on the saxophone and piano, and his ever expanding fanbase is evident in his following of over 61k followers on IG. As Thompson prepares to drop some new music in the form of his album "Pursuit Of Passion" as well as an upcoming Christmas album we caught up with him to chat about his beginnings, and his bright future.
1. We've seen videos of you killing it on the sax as an eleven year old. What as your introduction to the instrument?
My introduction to the sax came from listening to the radio as a young boy. My Aunty would play smooth jazz all the time so I naturally gravitated towards the instrument.
2. What's your idea of success as a musician? When will you feel like you've made it?
I will never really feel like I have “made it”. I believe success is a continuation. However when I am able to start a tour, go on a tour, win a grammy, etc... then I will feel like my success has at least “started”.
3. What can we expect from "Pursuit Of Passion"? What's the process been like working on your original album?
You should expect a lot of heart and soul. It will be filled with rnb, pop, and ballads. Most of the songs that I wrote on that album are my life experiences transformed into melodies.
4. What advice would you give to a youngin on the come up?
My advice would be to practice^10 and have FAITH!! This industry is not for the faint of heart and you must have the heart and passion to do it.
5. Ideally, where do you see yourself in five years?
I see my self hopefully selling out Madison Square garden or something equivalent! I really love sharing music and I want to be like the Bruno Mars of the saxophone! To be able to bring an electrifying show using a saxophone!IG: @BTHOMPSONMUSIC
